To live a meaningful life is to participate in the consciousness of the soul. When the soul is inwardly touched, a sense of purpose is slowly realized, and meaningful living then emerges in life. Meaning is therefore a state of consciousness. It represents an evolution away from perceiving outer events at face value. Instead, events are understood as symbols that reveal hidden significance. When a person begins to experience this, it indicates that s/he has stepped into the World of Meaning: the state of consciousness through which the soul’s wisdom is revealed.
Every human being will one day enter into the World of Meaning, either in this life or another. It is an inevitable step on the long journey of spiritual evolution leading to eventual enlightenment. However, to see this requires that we refine our understanding of evolution. Contrary to Darwinian theory, evolution is not based upon the changes occurring in the physical form of a species. Instead, it is rooted in the changes occurring in consciousness. In other words, the physical changes that occur over time are not the cause of evolution, but are instead its effect. Consciousness evolves, and form simply reflects this. And, at a certain point in the evolution of consciousness, the World of Meaning becomes part of one’s awareness.
The World of Meaning reveals the pattern of truth underlying outer circumstance. When the mind is engaged in it, various life events are no longer viewed as random. Things that may have seemed arbitrary in the past are recognized as having underlying organization. As such, a person is able to intuit a deeper meaning beyond the outer appearance of things. Something significant is revealed. In this context, the word “revealed” is important, for the World of Meaning is always a state of consciousness that is revelatory. It sheds light into the darkness of uncertainty and confusion.
When a person begins to seek explanation to the circumstances of his/her life, it indicates that the World of Meaning is being touched. However, the insights gained are often misinterpreted, at least initially. This misinterpretation will usually manifest in one of two ways. In the first instance, s/he will tend to project cause or fault onto the outer world. Distrust toward circumstance then emerges. When severe, conspiracy thinking can even take hold. In such cases, the source of one’s life predicament is believed to be the duplicitous motives of others. The second misconception is one of naiveté. In this case, the search for hidden meaning is strong, but the discriminative faculty of the mind is feeble, thus distorted perception easily takes root. Without clear mental discrimination, such a person will tend to seek hidden meaning in every event in life.
In time (often in a subsequent incarnation), these two tendencies are corrected. The individual who projects fault will begin to realize that, although there are people in the world of duplicitous motive, the real enemy is within oneself. From this acceptance, an honest ability to introspect develops. S/he then begins to understand that the meaning revealed within life circumstance is impulsed from within, not from without. And, to the individual who believes that every event (whether major or minor) holds important meaning, a tempered understanding will slowly be developed. This person will learn that there are times when the soul reveals something “profoundly meaningful” through a given circumstance, while at other times it rests in latency.
It may be asked, how does one know if the World of Meaning is actually being experienced? Admittedly, it is different from one person to the next. The spiritual constitution of each human being is quite unique. This, coupled with differing karmic backgrounds, causes “meaningful realization” to be widely diverse among people. Even so, there are certain fundamental features of perception that are common to all experiences coming forth from the World of Meaning, and therefore from the soul.
1. Meaning brings understanding to what was previously incomprehensible. The soul holds the wisdom acquired from countless incarnations. When conveyed, this wisdom provides a type of understanding that the lower self (personality) does not possess. Though accurate memory of our past incarnations is questionable, the “patterns” of truth learned in previous lives is what the soul radiates into the mind. These patterns then form the foundation of spiritual insight and meaningful thought.
2. Meaningfulness tends toward simplification and away from complexity. When an individual senses something spiritually meaningful, it indicates that his/her perceptions have grasped upon a broad principle of truth. This principle then gives explanation and clarity to something that seemed complex and confounding. Broad principles (realized by the abstract mind) are simple, as compared to the usual thoughts of the logical, concrete mind.
3. The World of Meaning always adds context to one’s perceptions. By this is meant that meaningful insight comes when we learn to perceive, not just an event, but also the context to which that event is a part. At first, this is done solely with reference to one’s personal life. For example, an individual seeks deeper meaning of an event (let us say – a career happening) in relation to the wholeness of his/her life. In this case, the wholeness of life (including family, interests, beliefs, etc.) is used as a context for gaining insight into the particular event in question. Later, as consciousness further evolves, the perception of context enlarges beyond the self. This type of expanded context could be related to a variety of things, such as some particular social issue, political ideology, or a collective belief cherished by group of people. Still wider, a person’s context of consideration could encompass humanity as a whole. The important principle to understand is that the big picture always deepens our understanding of the little picture. In short, context gives meaning to content.
4. Spiritually considered, the realization of meaning is both a centralizing and decentralizing experience. The insights gained should give a person a deeper realization of his/her soul and its nature. In this sense, it is a centralizing experience, for it facilitates greater Self-realization. However, it is simultaneously decentralizing. This is because it causes a person to subtly realize that s/he is merely a cell within a larger life expression, namely humanity as a whole. From the esoteric perspective, humanity is considered one living entity composed of billions of cells, each of which is a human being. And, it is via the World of Meaning that the first glimmering of this is realized within the mind.
From the spiritual perspective, the things that are meaningful in life give added understanding to life. As consciousness expands, our understanding of life and existence increase proportionately. Indeed, the meaningfulness of life deepens at every step upon the evolutionary path. We therefore must examine the events of our lives with an eye to the subtle. We must look more deeply at life events with an understanding that the soul often speaks through circumstance. How this is done is a science unto itself. First and foremost, it requires that one learn to suspend judgment. To recognize a circumstantial message requires added time so that it can be properly sensed within the mind. Premature judgments prevent this from happening. Secondly, sensing the hidden meaning within a situation requires that part of the mind be held in quiet wholeness. Meaning does not emerge through sequential reasoning. Instead, it comes through our ability to hold all the variables (in a given circumstance) within a unitive field of awareness. In short, it is a technique that requires perceiving life in two ways simultaneously. That is, to be alert to the interaction of variables within a given circumstance, while at the same time seeing it as a profound singularity.
Participation in the World of Meaning is an evolving process. Indeed, it takes several incarnations to fully live in such a state. It is a realm of consciousness used by the soul to convey its purpose, and it shapes the underlying patterns of human perception. By so doing, deeper significance is recognized within outer events. When the World of Meaning is entered, a veil is lifted from one’s eyes, and revelation is then conferred. Transcendent truth is thus discovered, meaningful and profound.

What Is Our Future Like In 3000-4000 Years?

Previously, we have discussed the World Cycle that takes thousands of years to complete. We’ve also looked at our past with the amazing technologies of the ancient Egyptians and our near future in 100-200 years. As we continue to evolve in human form, what comes after that? What is our future like in 3000-4000 years?
What is a world cycle?
Various cultures have described “time” in cyclical terms. A world cycle takes about 24,000 years to complete. It is divided into two arcs: a descending arc where we drop in frequency (separation) and an ascending arc where we rise in frequency (integration). Each arc takes ∼12,000 years and is split into four epochs, yugas or ages that vary in length and have different levels of spiritual and intellectual development.
- Sri Yukteswar (“The Holy Science”) brought the ancient Yuga system to our present age. He figured out that the ascending Material Age (Kali Yuga) started around 500 AD and ended in 1700 AD, which is 1,200 years. This Age is characterized by darkness, ignorance, materialism and karmic attachments. People operating at the lowest frequencies can get stuck in materialism, because we evolve individually, not all at once.
- We are now beginning the baby steps in the ascending Energy Age (Dwapara Yuga), which is about electrical and atomic energy, new technologies, scientific discoveries, communication systems (telegraphy, phone, TV, internet), local space travel and so on. It is the age of “space-annihilators,” according to Paramahansa Yogananda. This age lasts 2,400 years and will take us to the year 4099 AD.
- Then comes the ascending Mental Age (Treta Yuga), which is about common knowledge of telepathy, empathy and other higher functions that Yogananda called “time-annihilators.” This age lasts 3,600 years and goes from 4100 to 7700 AD. The final age is the Spiritual Age (Satya Yuga) that lasts 4,800 years. By then we will be highly intelligent and will work in harmony with the divine plan until ∼12500 AD.
Here is a Chart of the Yugas with various historical civilizations, events and figures at key points in time:
What is life like in fourth density?
As we ascend in frequency from the gross physical (i.e. frequency bands 1-3 or “3D”) to the lower astral level (FB 4 or “4D”), many things in our lives will change. Lyssa Royal (“The Golden Lake”) said that as of 2012, we are leaving third density and have started transitioning into fourth density, but they still overlap. She described some of the practical implications of this gradual evolutionary process:
- We are leaving the old “3D” reality of deep polarity, separation, limitation and lack behind. The polarities of thought and control begin to disintegrate. Old dysfunctional structures, such as governmental, financial, religious, educational, health care, housing, food and transportation systems start to break down and new structures will arise in their place. They will be continually restructured and refined as we go higher.
- Our ego changes as well. We will still have an ego identity that keeps us anchored to reality, but it gets lighter, as we let go of addictive thoughts and old baggage. The ego won’t interfere as much in the reintegration and awakening process. We start experiencing dual levels of consciousness. It’s more difficult to maintain our negative or polarized 3D self than our true integrated nature.
- In 3D thought and action rule. In 4D sensation and being fully present rule. There is movement toward a balance between the mind and the heart. We stop trying to control ourselves, others and the environment around us. We stop resisting pain or the things we don’t like. We stop projecting them onto others and we own our experience. We start to surrender to being fully present in the experience of physicality.
- Our physical body becomes less dense and holds more light in 4D. It becomes a lighter vehicle that no longer needs the lower three chakras to operate. It has only four chakras, four energetic templates and four energy distribution systems. When we go to the high 4D level, we start to develop a “higher heart,” as the fourth and fifth chakras combine to create a composite chakra, as described by Guy Needler.
- In 3D we need to eat food and breathe oxygen to metabolize the food we eat to generate low-frequency energy that supplements the prana (chi) we receive from our environment through our chakras. In 4D our diet changes to less dense food, as our cells are able to hold more prana. We become less reliant on food and more reliant on prana. We will eat less food and less often in the high 4th frequency level.
Other changes in 4D include longer life spans. As our bodies become more stable, they age slower and need less sleep for recharging the energies. That’s all good but then what?
What is our future like in 3000-4000 years?
In a recent World Satsanga Guy Needler described a Future Earth in 3000-4000 years, when we exist in the high 4th frequency level. We will still be in the Age of Energy at that time. Some people have suggested that future human beings may live in underground cities and maintain a natural environment above ground for farming, for instance. But Needler is not seeing this happen. He described what he was shown:
- In the future, Earth will eventually be returned back to its greenery. There will be some minor underground cities used by robots with advanced computer technology to work, monitor and maintain the areas of forestry, animal environments and farm land (below).
- Most of us will live in ionospheric and stratospheric cities that seem to hover above the planet. They will be linked into higher levels of altitude and space, but they won’t need anti-gravity. They will have parts of them in further orbits that act as like anchor points (see the Featured image analogy, above).
- There will be enough space in between these vast stratospheric or ionospheric cities that allow much needed light from the sun to be able to bathe the Earth. That allows things like forests and rivers and stuff to be cleansed by the cosmic rays, but also the forests to become green through photosynthesis, etc.
So in about 3000-4000 years we’re going to realize that we need to maintain the planet in its natural environment and we’ll move off the planet.
But we’re going to have a number of individuals, who are going to maintain the natural environment. They will live in underground cities that won’t be huge, but they will have a lot of command and control areas that allow advanced artificial intelligence (robots) to maintain and farm the lands for incarnate people, who need to have sustenance or farmed fruits and vegetables and various different proteins that are there. They won’t require animal bodies to be destroyed to allow the incarnate version of mankind to exist. He added:
It’s a wonderful picture. It’s quite incredible that we’re going to eventually get it right!!! It has to do with moving up the frequencies, and it will all be very clear…to the point that people will just drop their weapons or drop their thought processes about being greedy or demanding or materialistic. It won’t be like a mass ascension, but it will be like a sudden realization. We’re going to get to a point, where we’re going to almost destroy ourselves from what I’m seeing here, but in doing so we’ll suddenly realize the importance of who and what we are and how we affect each other. It won’t be a World War as we know it, it’ll be something else. But it’ll be something that’s going to make us turn and change the way we work with individuals, their attitude.
Final Thoughts
I hope this piece helps you see where we’re headed in our future. It’s exciting to see the evolutionary cycle from the bigger perspective as well as from our individual perspective in the here and now.
The physical universe goes through cycles of separation and integration, because it’s part of the multiverse that goes through cycles of expansion (out-breath) and contraction (in-breath) in order to provide us with an environment to experience, grow and learn from everything we encounter, whether we’re descending or ascending in frequency. It’s all part of the game, which is much bigger than we can imagine.
The most important thing to remember is that we’re on our way Home now. Our ascension will take some time yet, but it is inevitable. Enjoy the journey!

The Adventure of Consciousness by Satprem (ebook)

Sri Aurobindo or The Adventure of Consciousness by Satprem
“Sri Aurobindo or The Adventure of Consciousness” is one of the most remarkable books written by Satprem. It has particular appeal to the westerners, who approach yoga subject trough the mind. Many seekers on the path of the Integral Yoga came to know about Sri Aurobindo through reading this book.
There is in Sri Aurobindo a revolutionary, a poet, a philosopher, a visionary of evolution. He is not only the explorer of consciousness, but the builder of a new world. For evolution is not over: “Man is a transitional being,” he wrote at the beginning of the century. This now classic introduction to Sri Aurobindo (in a new edition and translation) not only tells us the story of his life, in itself a remarkable adventure; Satprem also takes us along in a methodical exploration of Sri Aurobindo’s “integral yoga,” showing how it leads to a “divine rehabilitation of Matter” and gives our painful evolution its meaning and hope. “We have denied the Divinity in Matter to confine it in our holy places, and now Matter is taking its revenge — we called it crude, and crude it is. As long as we accept this Imbalance, there is no hope for the earth: we will swing from one pole to the other — both equally false — from material enjoyment to spiritual austerity, without ever finding our plenitude. We need both the vigor of Matter and the fresh waters of the Spirit…. Now the time may have come at last to unveil the Mysteries and to recover the complete truth of the two poles within a third position, which is neither that of the materialists nor that of the spiritualists. – Satprem
