A Beginner’s Guide to the Art & Science of Human Design

Written by Alexandra Cole

I was first introduced to Human Design in 2018. As someone who has always been keen to take any type of personality test or quiz, my curiosity was instantly peaked. I was particularly intrigued by its many layers and the connection to so many other ancient traditions. Once I started studying Human Design, both formally and informally, I also experienced first-hand how powerful it is to lean into your design. It gives you permission to stop forcing yourself to fit into a certain mold and embrace your unique talents and traits. In many ways, it was the perfect complement to the work I was doing to help others find and live out their purpose.

However, as I started to evangelize Human Design to my friends and family, I struggled to find resources that were written in relatable, layman terms. So, I decided to create this beginners guide to offer a basic overview of what Human Design is and how you can start to decipher the foundations of your own chart. This post is not meant to be a substitute for a personal reading, but it will give you a better understanding of the building blocks so you know where to focus your attention and what to research further.

HOMEWORK: If you have not downloaded your chart yet, I recommend generating one at www.mybodygraph.com.

So what is Human Design really?

The most basic way to describe Human Design is as a personality test. But there is a lot more to it than that. Human Design is quite literally the study of who a human is designed to be. It draws on ancient traditions such as the Chinese I-Ching, the kabbalah, the chakra system, and of course, astrology, to generate a unique (and rather complex-looking) blueprint of your most authentic self, based on your birth date, time, and location. This also means that unlike other personality tests, your chart is fixed. It is not based on a series of subjective questions (to which your answers may change over time) and the implications are not limited to one specific area of your life (career, relationships, etc.).

The underlying premise is that we are all born with an individual set of curiosities, talents, and points of view. Over time, however, we start to make compromises (i.e. we get “conditioned”). We adapt to our surroundings and present ourselves in a way that results in the least amount of friction with the world around us. Humans are wired to want to belong, so it’s only natural that we learn to ignore the parts of ourselves that are different in order to “fit in” and live up to the expectations of our family, friends, teachers, and colleagues. But that’s exactly where we go wrong.

Your chart reflects who you were born to be. Understanding your design gives you permission to embrace this true self and let go of the conditioning you may have picked up along the way. It encourages you to lean into your natural gifts and stop agonizing on who or what you are not.

Making sense of your chart

When you first look at your chart, it can be quite overwhelming. To me, it’s reminiscent of a half-finished paint-by-numbers picture. In this post, I want to explain some of the primary principles of Human Design in the hopes of making it more accessible to those who are new to this practice. (It’s important to note, however, that Human Design is very complex, so we will barely be scratching the surface.)

I will touch on the core principles in the same order as I would when doing a reading for someone. We’ll start at the highest (most universal) level with the five energy types and work our way down to the more personal and individual elements of a chart (the gates and channels).

The Energy Types

There are five energy types: Manifestor, Manifesting Generator, Generator, Projector, and Reflector. These energy types form the foundation of Human Design. Your energy type suggests how you are meant to use your energy in the world in order to experience the least amount of friction and the most amount of ease (or flow). Friction happens when you’re not operating in alignment with your energy type — in other words, when you’re trying to be someone you’re not designed to be. For example, as a Generator, I have fairly consistent energy throughout the day. From the moment I wake up to the moment my head hits the pillow, I’m pretty much go-go-go. My Projector husband, on the other hand, is designed to expend his energy in waves. He can work very intensely for short periods of time but will inevitably hit a wall after a few hours. If he tries to match my Generator work schedule, he will become less and less productive as the day goes on. He is best served to work for 4 hours straight and then relax and refuel. The outcome of a day’s work may be identical, but how we achieve this outcome is very different.

Fun Fact: Certain energy types are more prevalent than others because the distribution of energy types evolves depending on what the world needs.

HOMEWORK: I recommend learning more about your energy type HERE. If you are completely new to Human Design, learning to embrace and master your energy type can have a tremendous impact on your day to day experience.

The Energy Centers

Every chart has nine geometric shapes that are connected by a lot of lines. These geometric shapes can be square or triangular; and they can be colored or white. The energy centers map to the Chakra system — starting at the root and ending at the crown. Each energy center represents (or “rules” in astrological terms) an important aspect of your inner or outer world: your desires, fears, emotions, sense of direction, communication, opinions, and inspiration. When an energy center is colored it is defined, which means you were designed to have a personal point of view in this particular area. In other words, you have your own “default setting”. When a center is white or undefined, you do not have your own default setting and are therefore more sensitive to picking up on other peoples’ fears, opinions, etc. It will come as no surprise that the undefined centers are also where you’re most prone to conditioning. For example, my spleen center (which rules fears and intuition) is undefined, suggesting that I am quite sensitive to picking up on other people’s fears.

HOMEWORK: Look at your chart and identify which energy centers are defined vs. undefined. HERE is a helpful overview for you to start understanding how this definition may manifest itself in your life and personality.

The Profiles

The profiles in human design are like archetypes. Similar to your sun sign in astrology, they represent how you move through the world. There are 12 profiles and each profile consists of two numbers (ex: 5/1, 1/3, 4/6). The first number reflects the part of you that you are most conscious of, while the second number reflects how others see you (which may not be as obvious to you). To master your profile, you have to learn to embrace the second number.

The profiles are one of my favorite aspects of Human Design because they can result in the greatest aha-moments: “That’s why I have so much trouble with x, or that’s why I feel this enormous pressure to y.” Your profile also suggests whether you have a personal or a transpersonal karma. In other words, whether your life’s work should be accomplished through inner (personal) or outer (transpersonal) focus.

HOMEWORK: Locate your profile in your chart information and use THIS ARTICLE to start to educate yourself on the second number: How can you start to embrace this side of yourself more?

The Gates

This is where it starts to get more personal (and interesting!). Whereas you may share an energy type and a set of defined or undefined energy centers with other people you know, none of them will have your unique combination of gates. The “gates” are the shorter, colored lines that originate in the energy centers. Gates only reach halfway across from one energy center to another (vs. a “channel” which connects two energy centers). Each gate represents a “potential”. The gates that are colored in your chart suggest another default setting for how you think, do, relate, and emote.

This is where Human Design becomes a true artform. Many people may share a specific gate, but it will express itself differently depending on the bigger picture: your energy type, defined and undefined energy centers, your profile, etc. A competent reader will be able to provide insights that take all of these nuances into account.

For example, gate 53 originates in the root center and refers to a pressure to start or generate momentum. How I advise someone to use this gate will vary based on their energy type. I may encourage a Generator to respond to this pressure to start something new whenever it feels like a HELL YES; however, a Projector may need to be more protective of his or her energy and only start things when it is aligned with their unique skill set(s) or strengths. Otherwise, it could lead to a burn out.

HOMEWORK: Instead of researching exactly what each gate means, start by looking at your chart to see if there are any energy centers that have a lot of “hanging gates” — I.e., gates that do not connect to form full channels. These are often the areas where you may experience the greatest sense of lack and sensitivity to conditioning. For example, in the image on the left you’ll see that there are several hanging gates between my Sacral Center (rules desires, life force) and my G Center (rules direction, identity, love). This explains why I have traditionally had a hard time deciphering who I desire to be and where I want to go in life.

The Channels

A channel is when two gates connect to form a direct relationship between energy centers. When two energy centers are connected by a channel, they automatically become “defined”. This can suggest where you may feel particularly in sync or in flow. For example, I have a channel connecting my root to my solar plexus (ruler of emotions). As a result, I have the ability to act on my emotions without experiencing much resistance or tension.

HOMEWORK: If you have certain channels, start to pay attention to how and when you may be able to trust that connection more. For example, if you have any of the channels connecting your Root to your Spleen, you should feel more confident acting on your intuition. Or, if you have a channel connecting your Solar Plexus to your Throat, you will likely find it easy to express your emotions to others.

In conclusion

As mentioned before, there is a lot more to your chart than these basic principles, but I hope it has at least provided some valuable context for you to start exploring. Now that you understand what you’re looking at, I suggest you use the homework exercises to research your energy type, profile, gates, and channels in more detail.

The Law of Magnetic Impulse

 Source: https://blog-en.theplanetarysystem.org/2024/05/12/the-law-of-magnetic-impulse/

On the day consecrated to the heliocentric sextile (60°) between the Two Great Mothers of the solar System, Jupiter (Second Ray of Love-Wisdom) in Taurus and Neptune (Sixth Ray of Abstract Idealism and Devotion but II Scheme of Synthesis) in Pisces, we celebrate the Law of Magnetic Impulse, associated with the 2nd Ray, the 2nd of the seven laws of soul or group life that reveal to us how to serve in a powerful and focussed way, as Group Consciousness, the demands of the Plan of evolution.

Effects of the 5 Laws – from Esoteric Psychology II, p. 198

“2. The Law of Magnetic Impulse

It would be well to remember that we are not considering here that aspect of the second ray which is peculiarly concerned with form, and which constitutes the cohering, magnetic agent in any form, whether atom, man or solar system. We are not here concerned with the relation between forms, even though due (as is essentially the case) to second ray energy. Nor are we occupied with considering the relation of soul to form, either that of the One Soul to the many forms, or of an individualised soul to its imprisoning form [the personality]. The laws we are considering [the Seven Laws of the Soul] are concerned entirely with inter-soul relationship, and with the synthesis underlying the forms. They govern the conscious contact existing between the many aspects of the One Soul. I have expressed this phrase with care.

This Law of Magnetic Impulse governs the relation, the interplay, the intercourse, and the interpenetration between the seven groups of souls on the higher levels of the mental plane [the plane of human souls, of egoic or causal bodies] which constitute the first of the major form differentiations. These we can only study intelligently from the angle of the seven ray groups, as they compose the spiritual aspect of the human family.

This law governs also the relationships between souls, who, whilst in manifestation through form, are en rapport with each other. It is a law, therefore, which concerns the inter-relation of all souls within the periphery of what the Christians call “the Kingdom of God”. Through a right understanding of this law, the man arrives at a knowledge of his subjective life; he can wield power subjectively, and thus work consciously in form and with form, yet holding his polarisation and his consciousness in another dimension, and functioning actively behind the scenes. This law concerns those inner esoteric activities which are not primarily related to form life.

This law is of major importance because of the fact that Deity itself is on the second ray; because this is a second ray solar system, and therefore all rays and the varying states or groupings of consciousness, and all forms, in or out of physical manifestation, are coloured and dominated by this ray, and therefore again finally controlled by this law.

The Law of Magnetic Impulse is in the soul realm what the Law of Attraction is in the world of phenomena. It is, in reality, the subjective aspect of that Law. It is the Law of Attraction as it functions in the kingdom of souls, but because it is functioning on those levels where the “great heresy of separateness” is not to be found, it is difficult for us—with our active, discriminating minds—to understand its implications and its significance. This Law governs the soul realm [on the fourth buddhic plane], to it the Solar Angels [the Fourth Human Hierarchy] respond, and under its stimulation, the egoic lotuses unfold. It could perhaps be best understood if it is considered as—

  1. The impulsive interplay between souls in form and out of form.
  2. The basis of egoic recognition.
  3. The factor which produces reorientation in the three worlds.
  4. The cause of the magnetic rapport between a Master and His group, or a Master and His disciple.

It has an occult name, and we call it “the Law of Polar Union”. Yet when I say to you that this implies the binding of the pairs of opposites, the fusion of the dualities, and the marriage of souls, I have uttered meaningless words, or words which—at the best—embody an ideal which is so closely tied up with material things in the mind of the aspirant, and so connected with the processes of detachment (at which disciples work so strenuously!) that I despair of presenting the truth as it concerns souls and soul relationships.

This law governs also the relation of the soul of a group to the soul of other groups. It governs the interplay, vital but unrealised yet as a potency, between the soul of the fourth kingdom in nature, the human, and the soul of the three subhuman kingdoms, and likewise that of the three superhuman kingdoms.

From: A. A. Bailey, Esoteric Psychology I, p. 217

Owing to the major part which humanity has to play in the great scheme or Plan of God, this is the law which will be the determining law of the race. This will not, however, be the case until the majority of human beings understand something of what it means to function as a soul. Then, under obedience to this law, humanity will act as a transmitter of light, energy and spiritual potency to the subhuman kingdoms, and will constitute a channel of communication between “that which is above and that which is below”. Such is the high destiny before the race.

Just as certain human beings have, through meditation, discipline and service, most definitely made a contact with their own souls, and can therefore become channels for soul expression, and mediums for the distribution into the world of soul energy, so men and women, who are oriented to soul living in their aggregate, form a group of souls, en rapport with the source of spiritual supply [the new group of world servers]. They have, as a group, and from the angle of the Hierarchy, established a contact and are “in touch” with the world of spiritual realities. Just as the individual disciple stabilises this contact and learns to make a rapid alignment and then, and only then, can come into touch with the Master of his group and intelligently respond to the Plan, so does this group of aligned souls come into contact with certain greater Lives and Forces of Light, such as the Christ and the Buddha. The aggregated aspiration, consecration and intelligent devotion of the group carries the individuals of which it is composed to greater heights than would be possible alone.

The group stimulation and the united effort sweep the entire group to an intensity of realisation that would otherwise be impossible. Just as the Law of Attraction, working on the physical plane, brought them together as men and women into one group effort, so the Law of Magnetic Impulse can begin to control them when, again as a group and only as a group, they unitedly constitute themselves channels for service in pure self-forgetfulness.

This thought embodies the opportunity immediately before all groups of aspirants and allied men of good will in the world today. If they work together as a group of souls, they can accomplish much. This thought illustrates also the significance of this law which does produce polar union. What is needed to be grasped is that in this work, there is no personal ambition implied, even of a spiritual nature and no personal union sought. This is not the mystical union of the scriptures or of the mystical tradition. It is not alignment and union with a Master’s group, or fusion with one’s inner band of pledged disciples, nor even with one’s own Ray life. All these factors constitute preliminary implications and are of an individual application. Upon this sentence I ask you to ponder. This union is a greater and more vital thing because it is a group union.

What we are seeking to do is to carry forward a group endeavor which is of such moment that, at the right time, it could produce, in its growing momentum, such a potent, magnetic impulse that it will reach those Lives Who brood over humanity and our civilisation, and Who work through the Masters of the Wisdom and the assembled Hierarchy. This group endeavor will call forth from Them a responsive and magnetic impulse, which will bring together, through the medium of all the aspiring groups, the overshadowing beneficent Forces. Through the concentrated effort of these groups in the world today (who constitute subjectively One Group) light and inspiration and spiritual revelation can be released in such a flood of power that it will work definite changes in the human consciousness and help to ameliorate conditions in this needy world.

From: A. A. Bailey, Discipleship in the New Age II, p. 214

It will open men’s eyes to the basic realities, which are, as yet, only dimly sensed by the thinking public. Humanity itself must apply the necessary correctives, believing it can do so in the strength of its own sensed wisdom and strength; yet all the time, behind the scenes, stand the grouped world aspirants, working silently, in unison with each other and the Hierarchy, and thus keeping the channel open through which the needed wisdom, strength and love can flow.

There are, therefore, to be found in this great task the following relations and groupings. These must be considered, and are as follows:

  1. The Forces of Light and the Spirit of Peace, embodied Lives of tremendous group potency.
  2. The Planetary Hierarchy.
  3. The Buddha.
  4. The Christ.
  5. The New Group of World Servers.
  6. Humanity.

You will note that the Buddha focusses in Himself the downpouring forces, whilst the Christ focusses in Himself the outgoing demand and the spiritual aspirations of the entire planet. This makes a planetary alignment of great potency. Should the needed work be accomplished, the needed adjustments in the world can be made. The success or failure lies largely in the hands of those scattered but spiritually aligned men and women whom we call the New Group of World Servers.

In the above tabulation, there is portrayed a little of what is implied in the words “The Law of Polar Union”. The whole process concerns consciousness, and the results worked out in consciousness, with the subsequent physical plane happenings, dependent upon the conscious realisations of the men of good will in, or out of, the New Group of World Servers.

This work, carried forward successfully and intelligently, should make it possible to inaugurate a new relation between the Hierarchy and mankind. This effort could mark (and let us hope it will) the beginning of a new type of mediatory work—a work carried forward by a salvaging group of servers, who are in training for the establishing of that group which will eventually save the world under the Law of Sacrifice. This mediatory work, however, involves the recognition of the Law of Magnetic Impulse, and a desire to understand it, and to cooperate with Those Who wield it. Through its medium and the right understanding of the Law, it should be possible to establish the needed union between the liberated souls (who are in themselves the symbol of the Soul in all forms) and the souls in prison. Much of the success of this planned endeavor depends upon the intellectual grasp of the members of the New Group of World Servers in connection with the necessary technique. It will depend also upon their willingness to accept the idea of the opportunity, and upon their readiness to work along the indicated lines. They have no guarantee as to the accuracy of claims made regarding the importance of this period, nor have they any personal knowledge of the situation as it is here described. Some do not even know that there is a watching Hierarchy, but they are consecrated and selfless souls, and as such, belong to the New Group of World Servers. If they can aspire, pray, meditate and serve, focussing always in unison with all other servers, the salvaging of humanity will go forward with much greater speed than heretofore, and to this call many will respond.

For the individual disciple, the significance of this Law of Magnetic Impulse and the corresponding relationships in his own life might also be shown in tabulated form:—

  1. The world of souls on the higher mental levels.
  2. The Master of his group.
  3. The solar angel.
  4. The aspiring disciple on the lower mental levels.
  5. The personality, integrated and often troublesome.
  6. The aspirant’s environing associates.

It is useful for students to have these analogies in mind, for they can often arrive at release from the limitations of their lives and at a truer comprehension of the larger issues, when they see that their little, unimportant lives are only the reflection of greater and more important factors.

It is wise always to remember that on the plane of soul existence there is no separation, no “my soul and thy soul”. It is only in the three worlds of illusion and of maya that we think in terms of souls and bodies. This is an occult platitude and well known, but the re-emphasis of the well known truth will sometimes serve to bring home to you its exactitude.

The second illustration which may perhaps make clearer the meaning and purpose of this law, and which will be of deep interest to esotericists, is to be found in connection with the symbol that specifies this law in the sacred records and in the archives of the Lodge [of the Masters].  It is the symbol of the two balls of fire and the triangle. This has not only a planetary and cosmic significance, but has a very definite relation to the individual unfoldment (in the physical body) of the spiritual life of the disciple. Let me put it very simply. Students know that there are in the head two centres, the ajna centre and the head centre,—two balls of fire, symbolic of the fiery consciousness of the soul, and not of the animal consciousness of the body.

Symbols of the 7 Laws of the Soul From A Treatise on Cosmic Fire, p. 1220

These two centres (externalised by the two glands, the pineal gland and the pituitary body) become vibrant and alive and intensely active, through service and meditation and right aspiration. A line of contact between them is eventually set up and established with increasing potency. There is also another line of outgoing fiery power toward the top of the spinal column. As the life of the soul gets stronger, the radiance of the centres increases, and the periphery of their sphere of influence is set up, creating a dual magnetic field.

Speaking esoterically they are “magnetically impelled towards each other” and towards the stored up energy to be found in the spine, and localised in the five centres up the spine. Eventually the interplay is so powerful that a triangle of force appears within the radius of the magnetic field, and this triangle of light, of living fire, links the three “laya centres”. The symbol is then completed, and the indication is that the disciple is now controlled by the subjective side of his nature. He is now governed by the Law of Magnetic Impulse (as the linking of the head centres demonstrates) and the two aspects of his nature, higher and lower, which constitute the two poles with which he is concerned, are now united. The polar union has been brought about.
The subject of this magnetic interplay offers food for thought and indicates the way of group, and of individual service. As the individual aspirants lose sight of self in service, and as they arrive at the stage of indifference to personality claims and happenings, they learn to cherish a spirit of confidence, of joy and of love, deep and lasting, for each other; they learn to work together whole-heartedly for the helping of the world and the assistance of the Hierarchy.” (From A. A. Bailey, “Esoteric Psychology II”, pp. 109-118)

Glamors and illusions - Torkom Saraydarian

Disciples must very closely watch their glamors and illusions, as their progress depends upon the victory they achieve over glamors and illusions.

First of all, a disciple must know what a glamor is.Glamors are astral forms of our desires, which float in our aura and have certain connections with astral and etheric centers. Because of these connections, they exercise great power upon our actions, emotions, thoughts, and relationships.

There are many reasons why we must free ourselves from glamors.

Glamors:

1. Sap our psychic energy.
2. Create disturbances in our thinking.
3. Invite entities into our sphere.
4. Create disturbances in our relationships.
5. Eventually manifest as physical diseases.
6. Prevent the expansion of consciousness.
7. Do not let the mind operate with reasoning and logic.

Most our glamors are related o three centers: the base of the spine center, the sacral center, and the solar plexus. They not only control these centers, but also are nourished by the substance they provide.

The base of spine center is related to:
a. the desire for power
b. the desire of domination
c. the desire of totalitarianism
d. the desire for destruction
e. the desire for separatism

The sacral center or the sex center is related to:
a. the desire for physical contact
b. the desire for sex
c. efforts to attract people by movements of the body, voice, color, dress, make-up, perfume

The solar plexus is related to desires for:
a. possessions, greed
b. belittling criticism
c. gossip
d. malice
e. slander
f. treason
g. fighting

Now let us discuss the reasons why we should get rid of glamors.

1. Glamors sap psychic energy in order to survive and operate.

They take the psychic energy circulating in your aura. They also sap the psychic existing in the corresponding centers and deplete the organs related to the particular centers. Depletion of psychic energy eventually results in physical, moral, mental, and spiritual degeneration.

2. Glamors create disturbances in our mental sphere because the mind does not always agree with the demands of a glamor. Also, if it does agree, it brings the glamor into the mental plane and submits itself further to the demands of the glamor, even if it sees that logically it is doing wrong.

3. Glamors invite entities into the aura. Glamors are used as astral vehicles for certain earthbound entities which want to re experience the worldly life of pleasures and negative emotions. When they use your glamor, they either enter into your aura or operate your glamor to satisfy their cravings. Actually, your glamors smell and invite entities.

4. Glamors create disturbances in your relationships. Because glamors are formed by desires, they exercise a strong force to obtain the objects of desire, in spite of conditions, laws, or rules.

One can see the glamor of a person aggressively working to reach its objective. People do not always yield to such aggressive demands and fight back; people cannot always be forced or subdued.

Aggressiveness is the active manifestation of a glamor. Competition is the same, When glamors are absent, the person cooperates and shares.

5. Glamors eventually manifest as disease because of the depletion of psychic energy. If one can discover the main glamors of a person, he can clearly see in what area the disease will manifest. Sometimes the manifestation of glamors through disease is a release for a person. If he is a disciple, during the illness he can see his glamor and with the light of his mind, destroy it. Sickness often gives us a chance to put ourselves on the right track.

6. Glamors prevent the expansion of consciousness, because expansion of consciousness means annihilation of the glamor. The problem becomes worse when an entity in or with the glamor. It makes such strong demands on the mind that 90 percent of the mind operates to meet the need of the glamor, Addicts are examples of this condition.

7. Glamors not let let the mind operate with reasoning and logic.

Desire does not recognize rights other than its own, and because reasoning and logic are deadly enemies to glamor, it continually presents repulsion against them.

A glamored person does not like to hear anything against his desires. The desire blind his eyes.

Because of glamors, you lose your control upon your own mechanisms.

The glamors take over and manipulate them according to their objectives. They control your thinking, your speech, your emotional responses or reactions, and also your physical activities.

Entities are waiting to find a point of contact with the earthly life. That point of contact is a glamor in the aura of the person.

When an entity finds a corresponding desire of his own in the person, it smells the desire or the glamor and sneaks in and occupies one of the three lower centers, to them for its own satisfaction. For example, a glamor related to the sex organs makes those organs highly sensitive. The victim craves sex, and even if sex is given to him abundantly, his fire continues burning him until the organs develop problems and become useless.

Sometimes a person is glamored in such a degree that he has many entities, or a legion, in his aura, who are related to each other either by their hands and feet or by their tails...Christ met one such person who had a legion.

When glamors are abundantly in existence within your aura, you must not approach or collect the Teaching because your glamors will use it for their own nourishment and your future will become worse than your past. The Wisdom increases the power of your glamors. That is why before great Teachers impart any advanced formulas to you, they demand emotional or astral purification from you. This was the purification of the heart.

The ceremony of baptism is the symbolic ritual of the washing out of your glamors, and it is very interesting that almost all religions have corresponding ceremonies for purification.

Glamors sometimes accumulate at the doors of your sense organs and act as your translators. You hear, smell, see, taste, touch, and reach conclusions through the communication of the glamors. This keeps you out of contact with the real life going on in your environment and even within yourself.

We must note that actually these three lower centers are not sources of glamors, but their energy is used for glamors. They are very important centers and have many important tasks to fulfill in the evolution of the human being. For example, the base of spine contains the basic fire of matter which, when raised up to the spine, fuses with pranic energy and then with the fires of mind, and makes illumination possible.

The sacral center controls the whole generative process. When it is raised to the throat center, it is used for all creative processes in all fields.

The solar plexus us a great healing center. Many psychic powers are the result of the unfoldment of this center. This center is the link between the heat and lower centers. When it fuses with the heart center, it produces higher psychism, humanitarian activities, pure sensitivity, etc.
The forces of desire use the energies of these centers and nourish the glamors. Often because of this, transmutation of the lower centers is an impossibility.

Now let us discuss these three centers.

The base of spine center is related to five major glamors

- The desire for power manifests at your home, in your group, in your church, in nations, and in the world. It manifest in political, educational, philosophical, cultural, scientific, religious, and economic fields. This desire for power is charged with the energy of the base base of the spine center, This glamor very dangerous because it eventually leads the victim to total destruction.

The desire for power is like the fish which drank all the water in the lake and perished without water.

- The desire of domination resembles the desire for power, but is different. The desire for power uses armies, ammunitions, threats, fear, crimes, and violence for its power. The desire of domination uses dogmas, doctrines, ideologies, bribery, cunning, and hypocrisy, and manipulates your mind until you become a slave.

- The desire of totalitarianism is a glamor which expands in such a degree that the person wants all the people in the world to accept his thoughts, his logic, and his ideology and act the way he wants, so that they satisfy his pleasures and plans the way he wants.

The glamor demands absolute obedience in thought and in action.

The glamor of totalitarianism can bring dark years or ages upon a family, a nation, or humanity and delay their evolution for millions of years. Totalitarianism uses all channels of human endeavors to try to reach its goal.

- The desire for destruction is a very complicated glamor.

Some people bring such a glamor from their former lives, when they didn't have the possibility to exercise their revenge against those who were unrighteous to them. This glamor grows and becomes a huge desire to destroy.

Our glamors are not only self-induced or self-made, but they are also inherited from past lives or from parents and are often imposed upon us by friends or enemies. Our friends evoke or impose many desires in our heart and through their imagination they form our glamors, or give form to our glamors.

Enemies build in us destructive desires because of their antagonistic attitude and aggressiveness. Sometimes they instinctively know what to destroy, but often it is a blind glamor, activated by the environment and conditions, which motivates them.

The base of spine center gives the needed force to sustain this glamor. When it is built sufficiently, this glamor turns into the mechanism of a destructive entity. History knows such criminals in every nation.

- The desire for separation builds one of the most destructive glamors, not only within a family, but also within all humanity. This glamor acts as hatred, revenge, jealousy, isolation, pride, and ego.

If it is ensouled with an astral entity, it makes the life of the person or the nation aggressive, destructive, and totalitarian.

This glamor is very strong because it draws energy from the source of all illusions, which is separatism, in a mental or intellectual sense.

The sacral center is related to three major glamors:

- The desire for physical contact with objects or people for the satisfaction of pleasure grows and builds its glamor, which urges the person to use his five senses to feel for the sake of obtaining the object of desire.

- The desire for sex is often built by imagination or by impression received from parents and fiends. This glamor is the most bulky one in the aura of humanity today. It nourishes itself by pornography, licentiousness, and close contact with sexual objects.

We are told that millions of entities occupy such glamors in the auras of human beings and urge them to perversion, prostitution, unlawful relationships, violence, kidnapping, and rape. Not only do adults have this glamor, but also children, from around two to nine years old, who unconsciously obey the glamor which obsesses them. This glamor can be inherited or taken from the parents, or brought into this life from former incarnations.

- The desire to attract people for personal use, manipulation, and pleasure through gestures or movements of the body, through certain pitches or tones of voice, through sexy dressing and make-up, or through certain perfumes is the glamor that keeps many shops in business, If this glamor grows and dominates, it creates vanity and ego, and misuses weak people as its source of nourishment.

The solar plexus is related to seven major glamors:

- The desire for possessions and greed is a desire for land.

Money, and other objects. This glamor is called the bottomless bucket which can never be filled. It accumulates beyond the need and the capacity to use. It is an astral sickness which eventually creates many kinds of moral transgressions and crimes. It exhausts its owner and makes him incapable of using the things that he accumulates through such persistence and pain.

- The desire to criticize and belittle people is a glamor that hinders the progress of others and makes them build an inferior image of themselves.
We are not referring to constructive or instructive advice given to those who do better if they are shown how.

This glamor may express itself not only through your words but even through your looks, gestures, voice and writings, The curious thing is that this glamor can also hide itself behind flattery and bad advice coated with sugary words. You can get used to this glamor in such a degree that you never feel that all your expressions are being used by it.

- The desire to gossip eventually builds into a glamor and affects your throat and heart centers. Gossipers generally have defective digestion and heart and throat problems.

- The desire for malice, slander and treason are sometimes called "the three criminals." It is through these glamors that people destroy friendship, trust, right human relations, and cooperation and slowly isolate themselves from human relationships. When these three criminals are occupied by dark forces, they plan genocides and massive crimes without a drop of mercy or compassion. Dark forces wait for years to find such glamors, to use them as their mechanisms for destruction.

- The desire to fight eventually forms a glamor. The person feels a strong urge to fight, debate, argue, and create conflicts. If the glamor is ensouled by an entity, it turns into a real mechanism of destruction. To be able to do this, it forces the mind of the person to create all those weapons, known and unknown, which sap the precious energy, time, money, and life of humanity.

This glamor is an instinct inherited from animals, nourished by the desire for supremacy, and constructed by the human instinct of self-preservation.

This glamor will lead humanity to the final destruction, or to the final realization that people do not need to fight against each other, but rather fight against limitations that prevent human beings from reaching perfection.

HOW TO FIGHT AGAINST GLAMORS

The first and most major step is to use the light of the intellect, logic, observation, and analytical thinking.

The second step is to sublime the centers in such a degree that they do not tune in with the glamors. This can be done by using the virtue that is the exact opposite of the glamor.

Let's take, for example.
The desire for power
. Immediately when we observe that this desire is turning into a glamor, we must use our creative imagination and replace it with the desire to serve all and be the servant of all, without expecting any recognition. We can sit in meditation and begin to use our creative imagination and visualize how we are free from our glamor and are becoming a servant to humanity, asking no recognition.

When we develop this virtue and enact it in actual events in our life through our creative imagination, the power of the glamor decreases and eventually the glamor is eliminated, provided that the dramatization of the virtue is gradually actualized not only in our thinking but in our life, too.

When we observe that the desire of domination is becoming a glamor, we take its opposite, which is obedience, and meditate upon it, in the meantime using our creative imagination and dramatizing it in our daily life. What we do exactly is this: We try to study the meaning of obedience, discovering its deeper layers and putting our understanding into practice.

A short time later, we will see that the desire to dominate is changing and becoming first, a desire for loving obedience to the Divine principles and laws and to those who are the representations of these laws and principles; and second, an intelligent obedience to those who are authorities or superiors in our life.

Once in the army, our captain said to a soldier who used to rebel and seek superiority: "You will never be able to be a leader until you learn how to be a soldier and how to be obedient."

Contemplation on obedience in its various phases and an effort to actualize it in your life eventually destroy the glamor of domination.

The opposite virtue of the glamor of totalitarianism is "recognition of the rights of others".

The glamor of the desire for destruction can be replaced by the desire for constructive activities.

The glamor of separatism can be replaced by the desire to synthesize and unite.

The glamor of physical contact can be replaced by a desire to contact the Soul or the virtues of someone else, using your higher senses to contact the person or even an object.

The glamor of sex can be replaced by the desire to cooperate on heart and mind levels. Many couples overcame their overactive desire for sex by doing something more creative with their partner, such as composing music, singing, painting, working for politics, studying, science or psychology. In this way they have a partner who cooperates with them in their advancing interests, and they weaken the glamor of sex.

When the desire to attract people by outer means turns into a glamor, we can replace it by the desire to attract by virtues or by higher spiritual qualities.

For example. A woman wants to attract a man, and she does everything possible to make her face, her hair, and her body attractive; but she finds out that the influence or effect of these does not last long. Then she decides to develop virtues, heart qualities, talents, intellectual qualities; and she sees that she can now attract higher quality people, enabling her to eventually marry one of them. When we attract people by outer means, the unity does not last long.

The glamor of possessions can be replaced by the desire to share, to give, and to offer. Things that come to you must be shared, if you don't want them to nourish your glamor.

The glamor of belittling criticism can be changed by developing the virtue of seeing good things in others.

The glamor of gossip can be replaced by talking about science, politics, the Teaching, heroes, and great humanitarians or leaders.

The glamor of malice can be replaced by developing goodwill.

The glamor of slander can be overcome by developing a desire to protect the one whom you are slandering.

The glamor of treason can be overcome by the developing the virtue of faithfulness and trustfulness.

The glamor of fighting can be destroyed by the virtue which we may call the desire to understand an cooperate.

Thus we can use such a technique to eliminate our glamors and replace them by virtues.

Fear is one of the main sources which force us to create glamors, because fear gradually makes us the slave of the things which we fear.

With real fearlessness we do not create unnatural means to protect ourselves, A glamor is an artificial formation, which may have three foundation:
the desire to have
the desire to know
the desire to be someone

When we have the fear of loving, of being ignorant, or of failing, we create glamors to replace them.
